The calling of the Methodist Church is to respond to the gospel of God's love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission. It does this through:
The Church exists to increase awareness of God's presence and to celebrate God's love.
The Church exists to help people to grow and learn as Christians, through mutual support and care.
The Church exists to be a good neighbour to people in need and to challenge injustice.
The Church exists to make more followers of Jesus Christ.
The Oldham Circuit of the Methodist Church is committed to an expression of mission consistent with this statement of the calling of the Methodist Church.
In doing this we shall seek to be:
Acknowledging that the world beyond the church building is also the place of the Kingdom of heaven and the context of mission.
Seeking always to enable and celebrate the diversity of theological expression, cultural differences, and human experience.
Challenging each church in the circuit to discover its own purpose and expression of mission in the place in which it is located.
Stewarding the resources of the circuit (people, buildings and finance) as best enables the people of the circuit to respond to the challenges of these mission priorities.
In all of this, being 'can do' people, looking for and enabling the coming of the Kingdom.
